Inspired by 1920’s art deco wallpaper styles, the geometric trend has been one of this year’s biggest interior style hits. Characterised by high contrast colours and bold repetitive patterns, it can feel a challenging look to master.
That’s why we have put together our top tips and advice, as well as some of our favourite style inspirations, to help you add some geometric flair to your home.
It all starts with colour coordination
From classic navy and gold, to a modern monochrome twist, or a multitude of multi-coloured options, there’s no end to the variety of colour options available in geometric prints. While we love a pop of colour, such as teal wallpaper shades, geometric can be just as impactful in neutral tones of silver and gold.
This amount of choice makes it the perfect trend to give any room a cost-effective update; whatever your existing furniture style, there is certain to be a colour that looks great with it.
Looking to make a bigger change? Make a stronger style statement by pairing rich teal toned wallpapers with fresh pink and deep raspberry accents. Classic navy blue wallpaper is the perfect backdrop for bold furniture pieces in vibrant jewel tones. Alternatively, soft blush wallpaper and emerald green wallpaper are the ultimate in modern sophistication.
Shape up in style
One of the distinguishing features of geometric wallpaper is the pattern, whether that is in a seemingly random style à la our Zara range, a distinct repetitive look such as Diamond Geo, or the uniformity of a pattern such as Cubic Shimmer.
A great option for a feature wall, geometric wallpaper adds impact to every room. When thinking about the most suitable print, consider the size of the print and whether the pattern draws the eye vertical or horizontal. Essentially, the larger the space, the bolder the print it can handle. Smaller spaces will also benefit from lighter colour options, with metallic finishes reflecting light and making rooms feel bright and airy.
