Our Favourite Lockdown Makeovers

Lockdown 2020 became a decorating frenzy among homeowners. We were made to stay at our homes longer than any other time we remember. This gave us all an opportunity we wouldn’t usually have – time to put our DIY skills to the test!

Whether it was up-cycling an old cabinet or a full room revamp, the creativity was endless.

From funky flamingo themed bathrooms to dotty dalmatian print bedrooms – we have loved seeing all of your wonderful lockdown makeovers.

We’ve selected and spoke to some of our favourite Instagram home interior accounts about their lockdown transformations.

A luxury blue boudoir

This beautifully styled bedroom by Ali from @three.one.eight evokes feelings of relaxation and tranquillity.

The navy and neutral scheme gives a gentle nod to coastal ambience while the combination of wallpaper and wood panelling creates an overall classic look.

Ali said she was drawn to the Liquid Marble Wallpaper after wanting a bold feature for her master bedroom.

“When we bought three one eight back in 2016, one of the main draws for us was the enormous master suite. We always knew we wanted to do something special with it, and were initially happy with our ‘hygge’ inspired first décor… Then we spotted the incredible liquid marble collection”.

“The wallpaper makes a bold statement, and gets so many compliments, whilst the panelling adds another layer of luxury to our walls. This is definitely one of our favourite rooms in the house now – and would be nothing without that budget friendly luxury feature wall!”

Tropical paradise at home

This ever so quirky and fabulous bathroom comes from John @coastlineconstructionltd and explores the “more is more” interior approach.

This very stylish decor proves you can create your own tropical oasis at home – and all you need to get started is the Palma Tropical Wallpaper.

John said: “The finished en-suite looks fantastic with the rose gold features. The added accessories and details compliment the wallpaper fantastically”.

“It has proven to be our most popular post on Instagram and has received mounds of compliments”.

We can see exactly why  – Navy tiles, quirky flooring and copper detailing, this bathroom has it all.

Stylish storage space

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of a good declutter. This luxury storage room comes from Claire @claire.nicole.interiors and keeps all the mess hidden whilst offering a stand-out feature in her home.

Claire describes her home style as an electric and boho mix, and wanted her hallway to portray just that.

“My husband and I have always been limited for storage space in our family home. We wanted to create a space that was quirky and unique whilst offering us the storage we desired.

My husband is a landscape architect so we custom built the hallway cupboards and units ourselves”.

“I love using colour in my designs and wanted the space to feel like an extension to the living room. I decided to use the eclectic theme to create a unique look in the hallway”.

Claire says she was inspired by nature, natural colours and bringing a taste of the outdoors inside.

“I had already decided to continue the deep green hue into the hallway and I felt as though the space needed lifting and the contrasting colours would help do just that.

When looking for the wallpaper the banana leaf design stood out straight away. The monochrome scheme appealed to me as I knew It would have longevity especially as interior trends come and go”.

“The tropical banana leaf created a whole new take on the current trend. We are currently continuing into the living room with this design”.

Decorating small spaces can sometimes feel like an impossible puzzle. Being faced with the challenge that you need to store as much as possible without the room feeling too cramped.

We think Claire has done a perfect job at designing a space that is practical and functional but still bang on trend.
